Hudson Elementary becomes History

Many Hudson alumni attended school in the Hudson Elementary building originally built in 1915. After 95 years of serving children, a decision was made to demolish the building. A year -long study was completed by a community task force, who determined that the cost to repair the building’s infrastructure, a minimum of $2,000,000, was not a good use of taxpayer dollars. However, the task force also recommended that the district try to sell the building. Only three offers were received and none were significant enough for the district to surrender the property located within the historic district of Hudson. The building was retired as a classroom building in 2007 and remained empty until the demolition this spring. The grounds will be maintained as a park area with playground equipment for all Hudson citizens to use.
